NVSlimmer 0.13 (NVIDIA Driver Slimming Utility) Portable
NVSlimmer is a portable utility designed by a user of Guru3D forums. This tool can take apart NVIDIA display driver installer and shows you a list of all the components contained within it. Then you are able to select the components that you want to install and deselect all the other unnecessary things. You can then click on the “Install” button to install only the selected components.
Needless to mention that you have to select some basic components such as core display driver or install core. Without these basic components of NVIDIA display driver, you won’t be installing the much needed display driver files. NVSlimmer puts “required” next to these components so that you can know which of these components must be selected and installed. Depending on the NVIDIA package for different GPUs, these required components may vary both in number and name.
Some smart Windows users download and keep the latest versions of drivers in a portable USB drive for later use, for example, when they have to re-install Windows. Using NVSlimmer they can slim down the NVIDIA display drivers installation package and save it for later use. This can be done by first selecting only the bare bone necessary components and then clicking on the “Repackage” button. This will create and save a self-extracting 7-Zip archive in your selected folder. You can use this new trimmed down package to install NVIDIA drivers later on without requiring NVSlimmer.
- Handled error if previous driver location is not found.
- Added «All files» filter in file open dialog.
