Universal Extractor 1.6.1.2032 Mod by korosya | 1.6.1.2029 Mod by dev2null | 2.0.0 RC 1 Mod by Bioruebe | Portable

Universal Extractor is a program designed to decompress and extract files from any type of archive or installer, such as ZIP or RAR files, self-extracting EXE files, application installers, etc. The full list of supported formats can be found in the table below. It's able to support so many varied file formats by utilizing the many backend utilities listed in the credits at the bottom of the page.

Please note that Universal Extractor is not intended to be a general purpose archiving program. It cannot (and never will) create archives, and therefore cannot fully replace archivers such as 7-Zip or WinRAR. What it will do, however, is allow you to extract files from virtually any type of archive, regardless of source, file format, compression method, etc.

The original motivation behind this project was to create an easy, convenient way to extract files from various types of installation packages without the need to remember arcane command line switches or track down separate utilities to handle the unpacking. Over time, and with the encouragement of its many users and the fine folks over on the MSFN forum, it has evolved into a mature and very capable unarchiving utility that many, including myself, find indispensable.

Changelog

  • Added Wix installer definition by partition signature .wixburn (2E7769786275726E), also added Wix Installer.1.sg (thanks to rinat84). Fixed a false Wix installer definition with Exeinfo PE, Detect-It-Easy, PEiD utilities like InstallShield.
  • Changed the algorithm to check that the file under test is 64-bit (thanks to rinat84).
  • Updated 7-zip to version 18.05, modified to extract the NSIS script. From 7z.dll removed all icons and added plugins (Modern7z, Iso7z, eDecoder, Thumbs7z, Lzip7z, Asar7z)(thanks to rinat84). 7-zip with the plugins is transferred from the bin folder to the bin\7z. When you install, you delete 7z.dll and 7z.exe from the bin folder. If for any reason the removal is unsuccessful-delete these two files manually.
  • Added the ability to extract thumbnails from Thumbs files.db and thumbcache.db. Defined by the file name and extension «Thumbs.db», " ehthumbs.db", " ehthumbs_vista.db", " Image.db", " Video.db', ' TVThumb.db", " musicThumbs.db", " thumbcache_16.db", " thumbcache_32.db", " thumbcache_48.db", " thumbcache_96.db", " thumbcache_256.db", " thumbcache_768.db", " thumbcache_1024.db", " thumbcache_1280.db", " thumbcache_1600.db", " thumbcache_1920.db", " thumbcache_2560.db", " thumbcache_sr.db", " thumbcache_exif.db", " thumbcache_wide.db", " thumbcache_wide_alternate.db " and " thumbcache_custom_stream.db".
  • Changed-LZ (lzip) archives are now unpacked using 7-zip. The lunzip utility has been removed.
  • Changed-when decompressing disk images (iso, bin, isz, mdf, nrg) is now produced using 7-zip. If 7-zip is unable to cope with unpacking, the unpacking is performed using TotalObserver. If iso files appear in the start folder, they are also unpacked.
  • Added the ability to unpack mht and mhtml using 7-zip.
  • Added: unpack archives with compression method Asar, Brotli, LZ4, LZ5, Lizard, Zstandard, (determined by extension asar, br, lz4, lz5, liz, zst respectively), and unpack similarly using 7-zip.
  • Added: if the destination folder is empty, it is deleted.
  • Fixed bug (wrong startup line for unzipping files .img) (thanks to rinat84).
  • Removed iso.wcx. Files to unpack which applied the iso.wcx, now unpacked using 7-zip and TotalObserver.
